Comprehensive Capacity Building Programme for the African Energy Sector

The African Energy Commission (AFREC), as the African Union’s specialised energy agency, has developed a Comprehensive Capacity Building Programme to address critical skills and knowledge gaps in Africa’s energy sector. Based on continent-wide assessments, surveys, and expert analysis, the Programme identifies priority areas such as energy efficiency, renewable integration, regulatory frameworks, financing, and electricity infrastructure.

Electricity generation in Africa from fossil fuels 2023

The most robust energy policies are based on a comprehensive understanding of the current situation upon which an assessment of possible actions and of their impact can be made and evaluated. It is a fact that the best assessment needs comprehensive energy data, indeed timely, detailed. It obvious thatreliable energy data constitutes the foundation for any sound energy policy.

Household energy use in Africa

This report is one of series reports that AFREC have been producing to shed light on the energy situation in Africa, using data collected by AFREC from AU member states. The reports aim to enhance understanding on specific fuels, their production processes, trade and use, while serving as a framework instrument to policy makers across all African countries.
